Performance Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:
conduct outburst mining operations on at least two occasions, including:completing strata control operationscompleting outburst pre-operational checks, including those relating to:emergency equipment basesminersshuttle carsservicesmonitoring environment for conditions, including:stretch markscutterscalcite bandscoal changing colourmylonitecoal softening/hardeningdyke stringerscindered coalchange in gas make/type.During the above, the candidate must:locate and apply relevant documentation, policies and procedures and confirm work activity is compliantimplement the requirements, procedures and techniques for outburst mining operations, including:reading, interpreting and applying mine rescue procedures and manager’s rulesapplying resuscitationtesting and interpreting gasesreading/identifying geological changeoperating communications systemoperating breathing apparatusapplying rescue techniquesaccessing, reading and interpreting outburst management planwork effectively with others to undertake and complete outburst mining operations in a way that meets required outcomes, including:organising work activities to meet task requirementscommunicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructionscomplying with reporting requirements and proceduresdetermining coordination requirements throughout work activities.
